After creating the pov-file with LPub (traditionally for me), I have implemented only a few changes for the render (no LGEO and no mesh enhancing):
- Using of radiosity. Since it has always a little influence on the other changes, this was done first. It slows down the rendering speed - but during the work, I often render only small pictures or only fractions of the scene.
- The 1x1 cone of the torch got a high ambient value and I have placed an intense but fast fading light source inside the cone.
- An orange spot light representing a mysterious light (or simply the sun at dusk/dawn) was placed far away...
- The scenery was placed inside a box with a media. Most of the work was the adjustment of the parameters for the media. This was done with much try and error and less intelligence.
The final rendering was done with POV-ray 3.6 with high quality (+Q11) and Anti-Aliasing (AA0.3). The 1024x786 pixel version needed approx. 2h 20min on an Athlon 3800+. For the entry the size was reduced with gimp to 800x600 pixel and saved as jpg-file.
