Title: Moonlight
Name: Trevor Hewer
Brickshelf Gallery: 1x16beam

About this entry:
I thought that light beams from the moon would suit the scene well; that's easier said than done.

This file was converted to .pov format using L3P Launcher, with the LGEO library enabled. No modifications were done to the source .ldr. In the POV-Ray file, I changed Color 57's ambient value to 3, so it would appear emit light.

There is a shadowless light in front of the torch, to get decent lighting on the minifig's face. The moon is a light source that "looks_like" a white sphere. The halos around the moon and the torch are clear spheres with interior emission media. A clear box using the model's 'bounding box' coordinates (bottom of POV file) contains the scattering media responsible for the beams of light. If the box was extended to enclose the light source, the sky turned white (light travels too far in the media), whereas I wanted a night sky, so I stuck with the bounding box.

The hardest part was getting the torch to look like a torch, and cast light on the minifig.
